CJ Cowden was born in South Texas and raised in early childhood as the daughter of a traveling evangelist moving around the United States, after the death of her parents at age 12 CJ was remanded to the state of Texas foster care system where she spent the remainder of her childhood.
CJ likes to say art found her, as a way to deal with a hard lesson in loneliness and despair. Art has always brought joy and happiness to her life and given her a voice.
Her art is an essential part of sharing her message of peace, hope and joy with the world. She believes art can be a love language, it can be healing and also inspiring, bringing joy and hope. Through her art, she would like to be part of spreading these fundamentals of life and raise awareness of the importance of enriching, healing and bringing joy into people’s life’s.
After raising a family, CJ became a full-time artist in 2016. With her first juried show in 2017. She has had many successes in a short time, she is both an award winning and published artist.
